The Person
František Novák, prezdívaný Král vzduchu (26. srpna 1902 Sokolec u Podebrad – 27. dubna 1940, Paríž), byl ceský letecký akrobat pred druhou svetovou válkou ("První zlatá éra ceské akrobacie") a vojenský pilot a instruktor.

V roce 1934 se Novák zúcastnil s novým akrobatickým speciálem Avia B-122 (OK-AVE) neoficiálního mistrovství sveta v letecké akrobacii, které se konalo ve francouzském Vincennes ve dnech 9. a 10 cervna. František Novák se v souteži umístil na 4. míste. V zárí 1934 byl úcastníkem leteckého dne v portugalském Lisabonu, kde predvedl své letecké umení, za které byl portugalskou vládou vyznamenán vysokým rádem.

V únoru 1935 byl jmenován porucíkem letectva. V zárí 1935 získal František Novák 1. místo v I. národní souteži v letecké akrobacii v kategorii vysoká akrobacie se strojem Avia Ba-122.

6. cervence 1939 opustil ilegálne protektorát Cechy a Morava. Pres Polsko se dostal do Francie, 1. srpna 1939 byl prijat do svazku Armée de l'Air v St. Cyru v hodnosti sous-lieutenant a titre etranger.

In 1934, Novák took part in the unofficial World Aerobatics World Championship with the new aerobatic special Avia B-122 (OK-AVE) held in Vincennes, France on 9 and 10 June. František Novák placed 4th in the competition. In September 1934 he participated in an air day in Lisbon, Portugal, where he showed his aviation art, for which he was awarded the Portuguese Government of high order.

In February 1935 he was appointed lieutenant of the Air Force. In September 1935 František Novák won 1st place in the 1st national aerobatics competition in the category of high acrobatics with the machine Avia Ba-122.

On 6 July 1939 he left the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia illegally. Through Poland he got to France, 1 August 1939 was admitted to the Book of Armée de l'Air in St. Cyru in the rank of sous-lieutenant and titre etranger.

He died after a severe operation in 1940 in a military hospital in Paris.
