The Cham people are a group that inhabited parts of Vietnam and Cambodia and formed an independent kingdom between the 2nd to 17th centuries. This museum exhibits the material culture of this people.

The museum is an open-air, colonial building in central Da Nang. It contains the largest collection of Cham artefacts in the world. The Museum opened its first gallery in 1919. Since then the collection has grown to include more than 300 pieces. Many of these terra cotta, sandstone and bronze sculptures and artefacts depict Hindu deities and cultural representations.

The Museum is on the Han River in the centre of Da Nang.
