This distinctive spire on All Saints' church, North Ferriby was designed by John Loughborough Pearson, R.A. (1817–97) (
visit link) ,considered one of the best church architects of the 19th century. After 3 years of construction the church was completed in 1848. The church and spire is in the Geometrical style of the later 13th century, and the spire is 165 feet high. Some of the stone from the previous church was used in its construction.
"W. tower with a broach spire, which has the distinction of being Pearson’s first steeple. The spire has a tier of lucarnes in the cardinal directions and an exaggerated entasis which has the effect of making it appear slightly bloated."
