The Customs House Museum is a simple rectangular single storeyed timber cottage built in several stages between 1860 and 1901. The building has a verandah on three sides and a high pitched roof originally slate but now corrugated iron.
There is no formal record of this building having being used as a Customs House as it remained in private hands throughout the period when duties were collected.
