EN: This small wooden cross hangs on a tree next to the path to the Rohrberg hamlet southwest of Gamsen.
It is a small wooden cross with a silver Jesus figure.
Unlike the free-standing crosses, which are traditionally very common in many areas, these small hanging crucifixes are more of an indication of an occurrence at this location, perhaps a fatal accident. But with this cross, I have no indication of its meaning.
DE: Dieses kleine Holzkreuz hängt an einem Baum neben dem Weg zu dem Weiler Rohrberg südwestlich von Gamsen.
Es ist ein kleines Holzkreuz mit einer silbernen Jesus-Figur.
Anders als die freistehenden Wegkreuze, die in vielen Gegenden traditionell sehr häufig vorkommen, sind diese kleinen aufgehängten Kruzifixe eher ein Hinweis auf ein Vorkommnis an dieser Stelle, vielleicht ein tödlicher Unfall. Bei diesem Kreuz habe ich aber keinerlei Hinweise auf die Bedeutung.
