The two parts of the white marble tablets look like an opened book with a knotted bookmark cord in the middle. At some time they have become loosened, and are slightly twisted against each other. They are mounted on to a vertical sandstone block/stele. In the leaded inscription reads:

In Loving | Memory of
|
my dear | Husband
CLARENCE GO|RDON LYNDON
accidentally killed| 4th June 1940
aged 27| years
Man Proposes | but God Disposes
The headstone is at the end of a concrete surround, tile-topped grave, that is right beside a rusty iron-fenced gravesite - which has no markings, and of a child-size plot.
