" The First Baptist Church of Salisbury was organized on the nineteenth day of January, 1867, by Elders Louis Elledge and W.L.T. Evans, st the Union Church, two miles south of Salisbury. ... The church continued to meet at the Union Church about one year, when it moved to the town of Salisbury. ...
" ... His successor [Louis Elledge] was Y.R. Pitts, who served the church until his death in October, 1871, while attending the General Association at Clinton.
