Jesse's final resting place is in the northwestern section of the cemetery, and both his parents and grandparents are within sight. His grave is marked by a modern, gray granite headstone, and it reads:
Jesse A. Glover
Son of Jim & Ida Jones Glover
May 22, 1896 - Aug. 7, 1900
First Grave in Willow
Pond Cemetery
---
Just inside the cemetery gate is a marker similar to this one -- they may have both been placed at the same time -- and it provides a sound byte:
John Washington Glover donated
the land for Willow Pond
Cemetery on the death of his
grandson Jesse Glover in 1900
Erected by his grandchildren in 1980
---
While Drussillar Glover's headstone is more typical, with birth and death information only, John Washington Glover's headstone notes their 1867 marriage and move to what was then the Willow Pond community in 1875. There really isn't much here anymore besides the cemetery and the adjacent church, and even the Handbook of Texas is silent about Willow Pond. This is a nice rural community in beautiful Palo Pinto County, about ten minutes south of Mineral Wells.
