This single arch stone bridge carried the Delph branch railway line of the Manchester to Huddersfield Railway Line.

The branch line originally connected Delph and Oldham and closed in 1963. A 2 mile stretch from Delph to Uppermill has been converted to a rails to trails cycle and walking route and this bridge carried trains to Dobcross Halt, a small unmanned station.
The bridge
The bridge crosses Ladcastle Road, a single track minor road at an angle. A set of stone steps at the side of the bridge led from the road to the station.
This part of the branch line between Uppermill and Greenfield opened in 1851 and mainly carried freight. The halt opened in 1912 for passenger use and the steps added to the bridge at that time.
