Am Rande des kleinen Stadtpark Forchheim zwischen Eisenbahnstrasse und Klosterstrasse steht ein 1895 errichtetes Denkmal, welches an die Gefallenen des Deutsch-Französischen Krieges von 1870/1871 erinnern soll.

Es ist ein rechteckiges Steindenkmal mit krönender Löwenfigur und Inschriftenplatten aus Metall sowie aufgesetzten Buchstaben aus Metall.

Der Bronzelöwe wurde 1945 eingeschmolzen. Im Jahre 2009 wurde der Löwe im Auftrag des Heimatvereins neu gestaltet und gefertigt.

On the edge of the small Stadtpark Forchheim between Eisenbahnstrasse and Klosterstrasse is a monument erected in 1895 to commemorate those killed in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/1871.

It is a rectangular stone monument with a crowning lion figure and inscription plates made of metal and attached letters made of metal.

The bronze lion was melted down in 1945. In 2009 the lion was redesigned and manufactured on behalf of the home association.
