Vom Parkplatz der Wacholderhütte Langscheid führt ein kurzer Stichpfad hinauf zur Wacholderhütte,wo die Rundtour beginnt. Da es sich empfiehlt die Runde gegen den Uhrzeigersinn zu laufen (bessere Blickrichtungen), läuft man zunächst gemeinsam mit dem Traumpfad Wacholderweg an der Hütte vorbei bergan. Erste Wacholder und üppiges Heidekraut breiten sich auf der Flanke des Wabelsberges aus und sorgen für nordisches Flair.
Am Waldrand angelangt, führt rechts ein Pfad mitten ins Reich der Wacholder! Duftend rücken sie eng an den Weg und führen zu einer ersten Schutzhütte. Weiter windet sich der Pfad abwärts durch urigen Wald aus Kiefern und Wacholdern. Kurz öffnet sich eine kleine Lichtung und von einer Bank bietet sich ein schöner Blick Richtung Nettetal.
Der Pfad endet an einer Kreuzung (hier biegt der Traumpfad nach rechts) und man folgt nun links einem bequemen Weg durch den lichten Wald. Bald weicht dieser zurück und eine kurzweilige Wiesenpassage bietet schöne Ausblicke in die Umgebung. Zurück im Wald knickt die Strecke scharf links bergan. Als ein Asphaltweg quert, wird es kurz etwas anstrengend, aber auf federndem Wiesenweg ist der kleine Berg schnell erobert. Oben steht zur Belohnung eine Traumliege mit grandiosem Panoramablick bereit! Weit schweift der Blick und bleibt immer wieder an den markanten Kegelbergen der Vulkaneifel hängen.
Schließlich setzt man die Wanderung fort, wendet sich (kurz nun auch wieder mit dem Traumpfad) westwärts und folgt dabei dem Waldrand. Als der Traumpfad rechts abbiegt, schwenkt das Traumpfädchen links und vollendet mit dem Durchqueren eines Wäldchens die Umrundung der Bergkuppe. Am gegenüberliegenden Waldrand angelangt, setzt sich die Tour rechts fort, nun endgültig wieder mit dem Traumpfad. Nun führt der Pfad zwischen Wiese und Wald sanft bergab zu einem Rastplatz. Hier wendet man sich rechts einem Asphaltweg zu, dem man auch an der folgenden Kreuzung treu bleibt. Nun befindet man sich wieder an der Flanke des Wabelsberges und bei nächster Gelegenheit nutzt man einen Weg nach links, um der Wacholderheide noch einmal nah zu kommen. Viel zu schnell erreicht man wieder die Wacholderhütte, die vor der Rückkehr zum Parkplatz je nach Witterung zur Einkehr oder auf die idyllische Sommerterrasse einlädt.

When an asphalt path crosses, it becomes a little bit strenuous for a short time, but on a springy meadow path the small mountain is quickly conquered. At the top there is a dream lounger with a magnificent panoramic view as a reward! The view wanders far and wide and always gets stuck on the striking cone mountains of the Volcanic Eifel.
Finally you continue the hike, turn (now again with the dream path) westwards and follow the edge of the forest. When the dream path turns right, the dream path turns left and, by crossing a small forest, completes the circumnavigation of the hilltop. Once you reach the opposite edge of the forest, the tour continues on the right, now finally back on the dream path. Now the path between meadow and forest leads gently downhill to a resting place. Here you turn right onto an asphalt path, which you also follow at the next junction. Now you are again on the flank of the Wabelsberg and at the next opportunity you take a path to the left to get close to the juniper heath once again. Much too fast, one gets again to the Juniper Hut that invites, depending on the weather, to have a break or to have a look at the idyllic summer terrace before returning to the parking place.
