The Seeklause (also Triftklause) is a weir system on the Königssee (municipality of Schönau am Königssee) that controls the outflow into the Königsseer Ache. It used to serve as the wooden drift to Berchtesgaden.
The owner is Bayerische Seenschifffahrt GmbH and thus the Free State of Bavaria.
The Seeklause is a single-storey transverse structure that used to be used as a cleat for the wooden drift and to regulate the altitude. Today, the building only regulates the altitude, which is 603.30m above sea level. NN. is set.
The stone structure has natural stone pillars, a paved weir sole and has four claw gates / locks and a drip channel. There is a one-storey wooden hipped roof superstructure that protects the lock systems and the dock.
Two publicly accessible bridges lead over the hermitage. One of them leads through the covered part and a second is next to it outdoors. A third aisle is locked and provides access to the control systems of the lock gates.
In the covered walkway there is a votive plaque that commemorates two accidents.
On July 17th, 1862 Seb. Landtaler drowned in the lake
Mathias Ber died in wood drifting on September 29, 1911
Remember in prayer
The adjacent street An der Seeklause is named after the building.
