This Ordnance Department marker stone is at the south end of Oxford Street. The stone was placed here in the late 1820s to mark the boundary of the Crown Lands which would soon become part of the Rideau Canal. The line of vegetation between here and OBS XVIII helps to identify that original boundary line. The building east of the marker stone was once the Loyal Orange Lodge. That building dates back to the 1850s.

Thanks to the 1913 Rideau Canal plan included in the view gallery, I was able to locate OBS XIX. Without removing the growth of moss, it is difficult to read the inscribed symbols.

Unique Designation: OBSXIX

Marker Type: Other

Condition: Slightly Damaged
