The First World War memorial commemorating the men from the area of the Perthshire towns of Dunkeld & Birnam is set on top of a hillock at Little Dunkeld, the area south of the River Tay from Dunkeld itself. The memorial takes the form of a 30 foot cairn of rough stone blocks hewn from the nearby Craig Barns.
The memorial was unveiled by the Duke of Atholl on October 16th 1921 with a bronze plaque containing 74 names and rank fixed on the northern side of the cairn. The inscription on the top reads:
'TO GOD BE THE GLORY 1914-1919'

A further plaque added beneath contains 24 names from WWII, with a single name below on a metal plaque from Northern Ireland in 1973.
The memorial is well seen on its elevated position after crossing southwards over Dunkeld Bridge. A path takes a slanting route up the hillside from the road to reach the top of the hill.
