The Aquatic Reserve allows Line-Fishing and Spearfishing, but NO collecting (or killing) of marine invertebrates or vegetation - e.g. for bait. It is surrounded to the north by Kamay-Botany Bay National Park and the NSW Golf Course, and out to Botany Bay, as the Cape Banks Aquatic Reserve extends 100m seaward to the south. Extending from the Pacific Ocean facing side of Cape Banks, through Cruwee Cove to Heanry Head in the west as it faces south and Botany Bay.

Signage at the entry to the Public Access Land

"Cape Banks Aquatic Reserve helps to protect the unique marine plants, animals and habitats in this area ..." from printed sign.

The website states the objectives for Cape Banks Aquatic Reserve are to: conserve the biodiversity of fish and marine vegetation, protect fish habitat, and to facilitate educational activities and scientific research. There are a couple of species allowed to be collected, as stated on their website.
