FR Au niveau du quai sont placées de chaque côté de l’escalier, deux groupes représentant chacun un enfant accompagnant un lion, œuvres du sculpteur animalier Ary Bitter, intitulés "Le Soleil et la Mer" pour celui de gauche, et "Le Monde est A l’Énergie" pour celui de droite.

Ary Bitter, né à Marseille le 29 mai 1883 et mort le 14 juin 1973 à Paris, est un sculpteur français.
Membre de la Société des artistes français, élève de Jules Coutan, il obtient une médaille d'argent au Salon des artistes français de 1921 puis la médaille d'or en 1924 avant d'être placé en hors-concours.
En 1939, il reçoit commande du FNAC pour trois petites gargouilles en bronze destinées aux sorties d'eau du soubassement d'une fontaine monumentale à Pithiviers1.
D'après Édouard-Joseph, le Musée du Luxembourg a possédé de lui une statue de pierre représentant Diane. L’œuvre semble de nos jours perdue.

L'oeuvre présente un lion, assis sur ses pâtes arrières, le buste gonflé, le regard au loin, une ancre de marine à ses pâtes avants.. Un enfant nu est appuyé sur son flanc, un bras tendu vers la gueule de l'animal.
Une bande de tissus traverse le dos du lion et le ventre de l'enfant.

Ary Bitter, born in Marseille on May 29, 1883 and died on June 14, 1973 in Paris, is a French sculptor.
Member of the Society of French artists, pupil of Jules Coutan, he obtains a silver medal at the Salon of French artists of 1921 then the gold medal in 1924 before being placed in standout.
In 1939, he received an order from the FNAC for three small bronze gargoyles intended for water outlets from the base of a monumental fountain in Pithiviers1.
According to Édouard-Joseph, the Musée du Luxembourg had a stone statue of Diane in his possession. The work seems lost today.

The work presents a lion, seated on its rear pasta, the swollen bust, its gaze in the distance, a marine anchor with its front pasta. A naked child is leaning on its side, an arm stretched towards the mouth of the animal.
A strip of fabric crosses the lion's back and the child's belly.
