Unfortunately, other than noting this one as contributing to the district, the National Register's Registration Form doesn't do much in the way of describing this or many of the other such contributors. The building is separated into two bays, one of which (north) has a modern, metal awning hiding a line of single pane windows above the door and display windows. The second (south) was last used by James M. Cotten as a law office, but Mr. Cotten passed away in 2014. There's the same line of single pane windows above the door and display windows, although two of them have been removed to accommodate an AC unit. The façade is covered with stucco, although a bit of brick can be seen where the stucco has peeled away on the coping, and there is an integrated downspout.
A very notable native son was James M. Cotten's father, Fred Rider Cotten, an outstanding civic leader, and one of things he did was operate the Cotten-Bratton Furniture Store and Funeral Chapel across the street. After his passing, his daughter, Mary Virginia Cotten Scott, operated the business with her husband for many years, but after her death, it appears that the funeral chapel has gone defunct, and the furniture store is now an active antique store.
