Opened in 1999, this is the second (as of 2020) of three Jinbeh locations, with the original in Las Colinas (1988) and the third in Frisco (2003). The food and the service are outstanding here, so Jinbeh is quite popular: Be prepared for a wait during peak hours, and lines can go out the door. They do have a small bar up front if you'd like something while you wait, with a nice selection of sake, beer, and wine in addition to the usual fancy drinks. Unlike some other places, you don't have the option of table seating where your food is brought to you: It's either the Teppanyaki grill (erroneously called "Hibachi"), where they'll cook in front of you, or the sushi bar in back. It's generally quick seating at the sushi bar, and oftentimes, very quiet. There are even televisions in the bar and the sushi bar, but the volume isn't obtrusive.
They're going to fill you up, but they have a big selection of appetizers, and a wonderful sushi menu. They have you well-covered, with over twenty selections for standard sushi/sashimi, over twenty selections for rolls, about the same amount for specialty rolls, and even some chef's creations that go above and beyond the regular fare. There are also some combinations where you can pair your selection with rice or pile even more good stuff on your plate.
If you sit up front instead, for lunch, your grill options include vegetables, noodles, salmon, calamari, chicken, shrimp, scallops, filet mignon, and Angus or Teriyaki steak, and yes, there are combinations if you'd like some variety. For dinner, things expand considerably, as they add Mahi Mahi and lobster to the menu, and your choices of steak also include sirloin and Chateaubriand. There's also a small menu for the kids, and they can choose from chicken, steak, shrimp, and filet mignon. It's the standard grill show, nothing fancy, but the cooks will keep you entertained and happy.
