Cuxhaven (niederdeutsch Cuxhoben), ist eine Stadt an der Mündung der Elbe in die Nordsee. Es ist Kreisstadt des gleichnamigen Landkreises in Niedersachsen und zählt entsprechend seiner Einwohnerzahl nach dem Niedersächsischen Kommunalverfassungsgesetz zu den großen selbständigen Städten. Zugleich ist es nach Wilhelmshaven und Emden die drittgrößte Stadt an der niedersächsischen Nordseeküste sowie das größte deutsche Seeheilbad. Die Stadt gehört zu den Metropolregionen Nordwest und Hamburg und ist laut Landesentwicklungsplan ein Mittelzentrum.

Cuxhaven is an independent town and seat of the Cuxhaven district, in Lower Saxony, Germany. The town includes the northernmost point of Lower Saxony. It is situated on the shore of the North Sea at the mouth of the Elbe River.[2] Cuxhaven has a footprint of 14 kilometres (9 miles) (east–west) by 7 km (4 mi) (north–south). Its town quarters Duhnen, Döse and Sahlenburg are especially popular vacation spots on the North Sea and home to about 52,000 residents.

Cuxhaven (v dolnosaském nárecí Cuxhoben) je nemecké prístavní mesto ve spolkové zemi Dolní Sasko ležící u ústí reky Labe do Severního more. Má asi 48 000 obyvatel. Symbolem mesta je tzv. Kugelbake, asi 30 metru vysoká drevená stavba postavená kvuli navigaci lodí, která je i ve znaku mesta. Severozápadne od mesta se nachází k Hamburku patrící ostrov Neuwerk. Vlastní Hamburk se nachází asi 100 km na východojihovýchod. Dalším duležitým nedalekým mestem jsou Brémy. Predevším jeho ctvrti Duhnen, Döse a Sahlenburg jsou velkým turistickým lákadlem.
