This 18 hole disc golf course shares the space and amenities of the not-so-much-larger Schlather Park grounds. This is to say that this park is designed as a public park for the local community that happens to have a disc golf course overlaid into the general structure of the public park features. For a disc golf player, this means the weekends and holidays are not going to be days to play disc golf there unless you are very tolerant to people walking the cement sidewalk paths that run through and close to the throwing lanes of the various holes. The neighborhood housing backs up to the boundary of the park and at least three holes are parallel to these fences. Wow be to the disc thrown high near the fence on the many windy days! Family groups often play games or picnic within the fairways of the disc golf holes, so patience is needed to play around these well-meaning interferences.
Although there are several large plaques placed around a large landscaped semicircular sidewalk, each honoring the individual members of the Schlather family, there is no kiosk or informational display showing the layout of the design of the disc golf course. The tee pad signs do have the number of the hole to be played, except for the 17th tee; but, that is all that remains if any art work or picture of the fairway for the hole used to be there. The sign is blank except for the tee number, the distance, and the par value. The baskets do all have their numbers showing. Several baskets are clustered close by each other in a few areas of the course, and there is one water hole with water in it. About a third the course is bounded by a dense field of cattails and other aquatic grasses that are part of the neighborhood's drainage for water runoff/flood control.
