La paroisse Saint-Léonard de port Maurice fut fondée en 1867.
La présente église a brûlé à deux reprises. La première fut construite en 1889 et la deuxième en 1907. Celle-ci fut érigée en 1931 selon les plans de l'architecte Georges-Alphonse Monette.
L'église est bâtie dans le style roman et byzantin.
Saint-Léonard est un arrondissement de Montréal, Québec, Canada. Autrefois une ville distincte, elle a été fusionnée dans la ville de Montréal en 2002. L'ancienne ville s'appelait à l'origine Saint-Léonard de Port Maurice après Léonard de Port Maurice, un saint italien. L'arrondissement abrite la Via Italia de Montréal.

The parish of Saint-Léonard was founded in 1867.
This church burnt down twice. The first was built in 1889 and the second in 1907. The present one was erected in 1931 according to the plans of the architect Georges-Alphonse Monette.
The church is built in the Romanesque and Byzantine style.
Saint-Léonard is a borough in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Formerly a separate city, it was merged into the city of Montreal in 2002. The ancient city was originally called Saint-Léonard de Port Maurice after Léonard de Port Maurice, an Italian saint. The borough is home to Via Italia of Montreal.
