According to the sign on site, this insect hotel is designed to give insects that protect and pollinate Lincoln Park Zoo a place to overwinter or to build nests. I did not see any insects present but the ones mentioned on the sign are green lacewing, mason bee, ladybug beetle, and mud dauber.
