FR A la fin du 19ème siècle, la ligne du "Chemin de Fer de Provence "(C.P) est lancée. La compagnie des Chemins de fer du Sud de la France obtient la concession le 17 aout 1885, elle est officiellement constituée le 3 décembre 1885. D'une longueur totale de 211 km, la ligne ira de Nice à Meyrargues en passant par Grasse, Draguignan, Barjols...
Jusqu'à 500 000 voyageurs seront transportés par an. Le tronçon Draguignan-Lorgues-Salernes est inauguré le 23 avril 1888.
A la Libération, en 1944, la plupart des grands ouvrages seront dynamités par les Allemands avant leur retraite. Ces destructions et surtout la concurrence de la route entraîneront le déclin de la ligne dont le trafic diminuait depuis 1930. Elle sera fermée le 2 janvier 1950, supprimant 300 emplois.

At the Liberation, in 1944, most of the major works were dynamited by the Germans before their retirement. This destruction and especially competition from the road will cause the decline of the line whose traffic has been decreasing since 1930. It will be closed on January 2, 1950, cutting 300 jobs.
