The Palazzo Vecchio is the town hall of Florence, Italy. Constriction of the fortress-like building was begun in 1299. The structure is attributed to Arnolfo di Cambio.
The characteristic feature of the of the stone block building is the “Torre di Arnolfo” (Arnolfo's Tower) in the southwest corner of the building that rises above the crenelated battlement of the building to a height of 95' meters. The tower has clock facing west towards the Piazza della Signoria and a crenelated battlement surrounding an observation deck and a second crenelated battlement at the top of the tower.
The stamp was issued by Italy in 2016 as part of set of eight stamps featuring piazza of Italy.
