About these border poles
The border between de province Noord-Holland and Utrecht dates from 1351. There was discussion about the border for quite some time. The border was therefore definitely defined in 1719.
In 1719, 22 stone (border)poles were put into place to mark the border between these provences.
After an inventory, in 1923, 8 border poles had disappeared.
The disappeared poles were replaced in 1925. Each pole had the two caots of arms on it. The side facing each provence holds the coats of arms of that provence.
Nowadays only 7 borderpoles are still from 1719, the others are replica’s.
