Hobart is s farming town located on State Highway 9, two miles west of U.S. Highway 183 in southwestern Oklahoma. It was named after Garrett A. Hobart, Vice President from 1897-1899. It was established in 1901 when a land lottery divided the Kiowa-Comanche-Apache Reservation and that day a town of 2530 people came into being. Today the town grows cotton and wheat and raises cattle and has a population of approximately 3500.

This is a beautiful building in a Spanish Mission style. It is one-story tan brick, with a basement. The roof is hipped and covered with terra cotta tile. The front porch is recessed with five tall arched openings. A six-step staircase spans the front of the building in front of all five openings. Windows are 12-over-12 double hung and are arched. The brick under the portico windows is laid diagonally. Beneath the roof line is a concrete belt course, above which are terra cotta tiles. A heavy concrete water table encircles the building between the first and basement levels.

The building was constructed with Treasury Department funding in 1931. The library counter is open Monday to Friday from 8:30-4:30 with an hour off for lunch from 11:30-12:30. It is open on Saturday from 9:00-11:00. The lobby is open 24/6.

Visit Instructions:
To post a log to an existing U.S. Post Office waymark, you will need to post a picture of the front of the building, with the name of the post office in the background if that is possible.

A description of your Post Office is required, such as when it was built, history, outstanding or unique features, population of the city or town, just do a quick internet search and find an interesting bit of information about the city or town and add it to the long description, to make it more interesting. Even just adding in the population of the area can give others an idea of how many people this post office serves. This description should be at least three sentences.

If your Post Office has any unusual or unique features that you feel others would enjoy viewing, additional pictures are always welcome.
Including your gps device in the picture is not necessary, but wouldn't be cause for disapproval, as long as all other details of your log are acceptable.
