Der "Lesende Arbeiter" - der ja eigentlich gar nicht liest, sondern über das Gelesene nachzusinnen scheint - wurde 1961 von Ludwig Engelhardt (1924-2001) geschaffen. Die lebensgroße Bronzefigur befindet sich vor dem Kulturhistorischen Museum Magdeburg.
