La chapelle & la mairie
En 1627, la chapelle est déjà construite puisque le conseil autorise d'y transporter la cloche de l'horloge.
La tribune, édifiée dans le dernier quart du 17e siècle, est reconstruite au milieu du 18e siècle suite à son écroulement en 1712.
La chapelle est achetée par Louis Simon le 13 thermidor de l'an IV.
Le transfert de la mairie dans la chapelle va être envisagé à plusieurs reprises dès la période révolutionnaire : le projet apparaît dès l'an II, il est à nouveau à l'ordre du jour le 23 brumaire an VIII (le maçon Bourjac dresse le devis des réparations nécessaires). Le conseil municipal relance le projet en 1908 et obtient même l'accord du Préfet le 21 mars.
L'évêque accepte, non sans exprimer son désaccord, de célébrer une messe solennelle de Requiem pour les Pénitents, afin que "Dieu accorde à leurs âmes le repos que la municipalité refuse à leurs cendres". Leurs restes sont transférés le 23 février 1908 au cimetière.
Ces événements cristallisent l'anticléricalisme très présent en ce début du 20e siècle ainsi que les tensions entre "Rouges" et Blancs" fréquentes à cette période dans les villages varois. La mairie ne s'installe qu'en partie dans la chapelle (le secrétariat reste dans l'ancien immeuble à l'angle de la rue du Portail et du cours Gabriel-Péri).
Son installation définitive s'effectuera en 1972.

La ville
Entrecasteaux est une commune française située en Pays d'art et d'histoire de la Provence Verte1 dans le département du Var, en région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
Ses habitants sont appelés les Entrecastelains.
Le village tire probablement son nom de sa situation géographique et « intercastellos » apparaît en 1012 dans le cartulaire de l'abbaye Saint-Victor de Marseille.
En 1338, Blacas de Alpibus et Boniface de Castellane furent seigneurs de Fox-Amphoux et coseigneurs d'Entrecasteaux

Le pont Saint-Pierre, construit au xviiie siècle, reconstruit en 1725. En 2015, une souscription est lancée en 2015 avec la Fondation du Patrimoine et la commune, afin de restaurer le pont.

The chapel & town hall
In 1627, the chapel was already built as the council authorized the transport of the clock bell.
The gallery, built in the last quarter of the 17th century, was rebuilt in the middle of the 18th century following its collapse in 1712.
The chapel was purchased by Louis Simon on the 13th thermidor of Year IV.
The transfer of the town hall to the chapel was considered several times during the revolutionary period: the project appeared in Year II, it was again on the agenda on 23 Brumaire Year VIII (the mason Bourjac drew up an estimate of the necessary repairs). The municipal council relaunched the project in 1908 and even obtained the Prefect's approval on 21 March.
The bishop accepts, not without expressing his disagreement, to celebrate a solemn Requiem Mass for Penitents, so that "God may grant their souls the rest that the municipality refuses to give to their ashes". Their remains were transferred to the cemetery on 23 February 1908.
These events crystallize the anticlericalism very present at the beginning of the 20th century as well as the tensions between "Reds" and Whites" common in Var villages at that time. The town hall only partially settles in the chapel (the secretariat remains in the old building at the corner of rue du Portail and rue du Portail). Gabriel-Péri course).

The city
