A pair of full-size basketball courts take up the northwest quadrant of Billy Taylor Park in the Mount Hope neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. Park hours: 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Courts are illuminated after dark.
The court surfaces are green with dark red keys, center court circle, and exterior boundary area. All the lines are white. Each clear plexiglass, rectangular backboard is mounted on a substantial, round steel post. Red inner squares and borders are painted on the backboards. The rims and plain white cotton nets are in good shape. Six pairs of lights mounted at the top of wood utility poles illuminate the area after dark. A tall chain link fence separates the playing surfaces. A set of spectator stands are on the outer sidelines of the courts, one each to the east and west. Two players' benches are in the inner boundaries of each court. The western court's elevation is a couple feet lower than its companion.
Along with the basketball courts, Billy Taylor Park includes playground equipment for ages 2-13, picnic areas, a grassy hill, and large trees. There are also a teaching garden, benches, and a skateboard area.
On-street parking on the roads around the park. An accessible route is available from the entrance at the corner of Camp Street and Cypress Street for the upper eastern parts of the park.
