The "Bonte Kerk" (colored church) is in the center of Lieberhausen, as small town in the Mountain Country in Northrine-Westphalia. The church is build in the Roman style which was typical for the 12th century. THe oldest documentation of the church is dated in 1174. The building has been renewed in the 15th century. The paintings has been hidden behind white color in the 19th century, but they has been restored in the beginning and the middle of the 20th century. The painting were drawn before and after reformation which is very unusual for a church in this part of Germany

Typical for the time of building and the size of the town, the church is a very small one. The choir is only 23m in length and 11m in width. The organ was build in 1913 by Paul Faust in Barmen and has 12 register with two keyboards.
