This high society madam resides in St-Petersburg, Russia. She is wearing an Empire waist, off the shoulder indigo dress, white evening gloves, a pair of drop earrings made of gold and sapphires, as well as a shimmering gold necklace from which small chains are affixed to hold facsimiles of the art work placed on the egg creations artistically crafted by the House of Fabergé. On her head is a Persian lamb cossack hat, in front of which is attached a precious metal pin made to represent the exterior layer of a Fabergé Egg. In her left hand is a glistening sable fur stole. Behind her is a chandelier decorated with multi-coloured lights made to represent the onion domes of the Russian Orthodox Churches.
Drew Mandigo created the first seventeen Downtown Rideau Mural Boxes installed in late 2016, from his Auntie Mame Series. Stunning in their originality, Drew’s works feature digital collages of ladies dressed in 1950’s and 60’s fashions, and are inspired by the spirit of the 1958 film of the same name. Several new pieces were released as part of the 2017 mural box expansion project, including one featuring a lady trapped in a glass dome, surrounded by butterflies, and a unique piece dubbed ‘the upside-down lady’.
