This lucky 7 covers area around the shoreline of the West Sands at St.Andrews and in particular the start and finish of the world's oldest golf course (The Old Course). Many of the waymarks here are familiar in photographs and on televised golf tournaments.
The lucky 7 is centred on the clubhouse of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St.Andrews which is situated behind the first tee. The clubhouse is featured on a commemorative Jack Nicklaus £5 note issued by the Royal Bank of Scotland, and also features a weathervane on the roof depicting Saint Andrew. The remaining five waymarks are:
The British Golf Museum which is situated across the road to the rear of the clubhouse.
The West Sands, a long stretch of beach extending northwards (co-ordinates from the entrance to the beach).
The Swilcan Bridge, the old hump-back footbridge in front of the 18th tee.
The Martyrs' Monument, a tall obelisk that lies on the high ground to the east.
St James Catholic Church, a granite building to the east of the monument overlooking the coastline.
