Pac-Man Hydrant - Ardmore, OK - Painted Hydrants on Waymarking.com

Not long ago, this was a silver hydrant with an orange cap, and it had probably been this way since the 1990s. In 2019, Create Ardmore and the Ardmore Fire Department worked together on a beautification effort in which fire hydrants in the downtown Cultural Arts District -- a comparatively small number compared to the over 1600 hydrants that the Ardmore FD has to maintain throughout the area! -- would be given the glamour treatment. As the Ardmore FD requires that the hydrants have a specific color cap -- red, orange, green or blue -- to indicate how much water pressure each tank has behind it, they did the priming work, leaving local volunteers to use their imaginations and minimal guidelines in the effort.

The orange ghost, Clyde, is worked into the hydrant so as to retain the orange cap, while the pink and red ghosts, Pinky and Blinky, are on the outlet caps, flanking Pac-Man himself on the front outlet cap. Right below Pac-Man is the remaining ghost, Inky, while the blue lines of the game's maze are represented on the bottom of the cap and the hydrant's breaker ring. The standpipe is painted black, of course, but there are a few white power pellets to be found, and three of the ghost colors can be seen on the chain.
