La coopérative Prospérité Fermière a été créée en 1949 à Arras et regroupait à l’époque 31 producteurs de lait de la région. A l’origine, son objectif était de valoriser la crème, dans la beurrerie d’Arras.
En 1967, la marque Prospérité rassemble plusieurs types de produits laitiers frais : de la crème, du lait, mais aussi des yaourts qui connaissent une certaine notoriété dans la région.
En 1979, la coopérative opère un virage stratégique important en développant des ingrédients laitiers de haute technologie, grâce à un procédé nouveau en Europe, l’ultrafiltration.
En 2015, la marque Prospérité renait de ses cendres, modernisée et proche de ses consommateurs à travers le lait UHT.
La coopérative regroupe 1600 adhérents – producteurs répartis sur 1000 exploitations dans la région Hauts de France.
Elle collecte environ 410 millions de litres de lait par an, dans un rayon de 80 kilomètres autour de la laiterie de Saint Pol-sur-Ternoise, siège actuel de la coopérative.
