The Newstead Library opened in 2002 and replaced the Denio Memorial Library a couple blocks away on John St. At 7600 square feet, there is an increased space for larger collections and also a community meeting room. In addition, the library places an increased focus on children's materials and technology as well as enhanced collections for young adults. There is also has an extensive collection of Akron newspapers on microfilm, dating back to 1878. Six public access computers and free wireless internet is available for public use. There is limited on-street parking in front and a large parking lot in the rear.
