Whole Foods Market stores sometimes sponsor a community free book exchange like this one is. When a Whole Foods store does have a free exchange book box, it is always along the window near the entrance doors into the grocery store. This particular one appears to be on a its own counter top with a small metal bin filled with oranges and bananas. On the bin a paper plaque identified the fruit as "Kids Club : fruit for kids." On the side of little library, the words "Books: Food for the Mind" was written in the corner. I am assuming the fruit was available as a snack for those children who came to look for books in this book exchange. Food for the mind and food for the body! That's a great combination. Kudos to Whole Food for offering the fruit as incentive to get young children interested in reading.
This Little Free Library was #2 of 300 similar Little Free Library units distributed by the Girl Scout Troop 300 in honor of the City of San Antonio's 300th anniversary!
The concept of the Little Free Library is for people within a community to stop by the unit and examine the selection of books at that time. If you see a book you'd like to read, feel free to take it out and take it with you. If you have books at home that you have already read, you are encouraged to take these books to a Little Free Library and donate them into any little library's book selection. This concept is summarized as: Take A Book: Return a Book. Feel free to take a book you want to read, and feel free to return a book/add a book to this exchange unit or any others you know of. Your contribution of books keeps the sections varied and keeps the little libraries filled with book for others. Its is a win-win situation.
