The sign reads:

In 1880 Reverend A. C. Mosley was appointed the I first full time rector for the area. In that year a wooden church was constructed. After its destruction in the 1911 cyclone a smaller wooden church was built on this site in 1912.
The small size of the church reflected the decline of Port Douglas as a town.

St. Andrews Church of England, Wharf Street, Port Douglas. It was demolished in the 1980s to make way for Club Tropical Resort. A new Anglican Church was built in Reef Park.
