The town of Rocky, located in Washita County, was established in 1898, with the opening of its post office. The town received its name from two men who opened a general store in 1898. The store was built of roughly laid rock, and the local Indians referred to the owner as The Rock Man. Rocky has a current population of about 155, and is located 90 miles southwest of Oklahoma City on U.S. Highway 183.
The Co-Op has several buildings including a brick retail store. The original grain elevator, built c. 1920 is concrete and has twelve bins, with two additional silos just to the south. The head house is located at the north end of the elevator.
