Smithsonian Art Inventory

"The medallion was created for the Texas Centennial Exposition (World's Fair) held in 1936. The medallion is adorned with the five-pointed Lone Star surrounded by six female figures symbolizing the six nations that have claimed sovereignty over Texas --The Republic of Texas, Mexico, Spain, France, the Confederate States of America, and the United States of America."
