The Chongmek bus station is 500 metres inside the Thai border, just across from the country of Laos. Here, after exiting the border checkpoint you can travel onwards to Bangkok or to the provincial capital, or, of course, arrive here for your entry into the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
The station has a long, central bus bay area with ticket offices at one end and toilet facilities at the other. There are tuktuk buses at the station that will carry you to and from the border. Between the station and the border are small shops selling all manner of everyday things. Fairly busy.
