Of course we are also looking forward to your very real visit!
The History
A few years ago the Allies were withdrawn from Berlin (1994 to be precise). After about 50 years of presence in Berlin, the Allies were welcome friends, a part of our city and one of the biggest employers at that time. In the period from 1945 to 1994, nearly 250,000 Local Nationals were employed by the Allies in all areas.
Against this background of history and friendship that has connected us here in Berlin with the Americans, British and French for about 50 years, we see it as our duty to preserve this part of the history of our hometown for posterity. The idea to process the whole thing and to organize appropriate exhibits goes back to the year 1994 ( withdrawal of the allies ). Since that time we collect exhibits from the time of the Americans, British and French in Berlin."
