Oberhalb von Bornheim-Merten steht auf einer Anhöhe auf einer Höhe von 218 Metern über N.N. ein alter Funkturm. Der Gitterturm verfügt über drei nicht-öffentliche, begehbare Plattformen und hat eine Gesamthöhe von 68 Metern. Er wurde für Fernsehen, Radio und Mobiltelefonie genutzt, inzwischen nur noch für analoges Radio (Radio Bonn/Rhein-Sieg) und Mobiltelefonie. Betreiber ist die Deutsche Telekom.

Der Funkturm kann bequem vom nahegelegenen Wanderparkplatz "Landorfer Kreuz" in östlicher Richtung aus erreicht werden. Ein Waldweg führt direkt am Turm vorbei. Eine Begehung des Turms ist meines Wissens nicht möglich.
Above Bornheim-Merten stands on a hill at a height of 218 meters above sea level an old transmitter tower. The lattice tower has three non-public, accessible platforms and has a total height of 68 meters. It was used for television, radio and mobile telephony, meanwhile only for analog radio (Radio Bonn/Rhein-Sieg) and mobile telephony. The operator is Deutsche Telekom.

The transmitter tower can be easily reached from the nearby hiking car park "Landorfer Kreuz" in an easterly direction. A forest path leads right past the tower. As far as I know, it is not possible to climb the tower.
