This particular Little Free Library is difficult to get to. It is in a fenced-off part of the back property of Sky Harbor Elementary School. This park is accessed from the street of Portside Drive which is a boundary street of the school's property. However, even thought there is a large artistic entry gate at the entrance into this pocket park, it is chained and locked shut during school hours. For purposes of keying in an address to find this entrance to this park containing this little free book exchange library, enter 8941 Portside Drive, San Antonio, TX into you GPS.

The steel panel that is part of the entrance gate into the park has these hours of operation posted for using this park (and thus this library):
PARK HOURS:
AFTER SCHOOL HOURS - SUNSET school days
9AM - SUNSET non-school days

This Little Free Library is one of a few specially placed community free book exchanges where the sponsor of the book unit collaborates with National Public Radio's (NPR) local San Antonio station KLRN lto honor the local communities military war heroes. On the outside of the little library units are names, photos and the story of the bravery in combat the honored military person did. A QR code is provided on the display so that those with a QR code reader on their cell phones can listen to the audio of the KLRN airing of this military heroe's deeds. Of course, the book exchange unit will also be used as the mini free library for picking out a free book to read or as a depository for new books to be added into the selection of books offered. Here is the information from the LittleFreeLibrary webs about this book exchange honoring the local military members:

Operation Never Ending Stories, engages veterans & the community; remembers the fallen & their families; and fosters a love of reading. KLRN, the Public Television Station serving South Central Texas, produced five short films to honor six service members. Using QR code technology, people can scan the code & hear the stories of these fallen G.I.’s. (A playlist is also available on KLRN’s YouTube channel: (visit link) ."

The concept of the Little Free Library is for people within a community to stop by the unit and examine the selection of books at that time. If you see a book you'd like to read, feel free to take it out and take it with you. If you have books at home that you have already read, you are encouraged to take these books to a Little Free Library and donate them into any little library's book selection. This concept is summarized as: Take A Book: Return a Book. Feel free to take a book you want to read, and feel free to return a book/add a book to this exchange unit or any others you know of. Your contribution of books keeps the sections varied and keeps the little libraries filled with book for others. Its is a win-win situation.

There is not a geocache in, nor immediately nearby, this Little Free Library unit.
