The El Reno Municipal Air Park (ICAO: KRQO, FAA LID: RQO) opened in 1943 as a U.S. Army Air Force training base. During wartime, the airfield had three turf runways and several auxiliary runways for overruns and emergencies. Pilot training ended in 1944 and the airport was turned over to the city of El Reno. The airport was unused for a time, then improved significantly with a single concrete runway (17/35) and adjoining asphalt taxiways. The airport supports about seventy flights per day, almost all of which is general aviation.
