The square white marble tablet on the upper part of the broken headstone has the corners carved out. It is above the rectangular tablets for his Mother (d. 1932), and Father (d. 1943). It outlines that Frank was a gunner (Service Number #653) with the [36th Australian Heavy Artillery Group] siege artillery, during the Belgium offensive. The lead-filled inscription for Frank reads:

killed in action
at St. Jean, Belgium
Oct. 4th 1917
Aged 23 years.
Erected by His Mother
and Father.
The headstone is toward the northern end of the South Head General Cemetery.
