William Dawson LeSueur

LeSueur, an employee of the Dominion Post-Office, was also a prolific author and president of the Literary and Scientific Society of Ottawa. He published over 80 articles on a variety of subjects such as science, education and religious philosophy and wrote for several Montreal and Ottawa papers. LeSueur's writings introduced the spirit of modern critical enquiry into Canadian life and challenged many social norms. He received an honorary Doctor of Laws from Queens' College in 1900. In 1903 he was made a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and served as its president from 1912-1913.
M. Lesueur, employé du Dominion Post Office, était aussi un auteur prolifique et président de la Litterary and Scientific Society of Ottawa. Il publie plus de 80 articles sur une variété de sujets tels que science, éducation et philosophie religieuse et rédige pour plusieurs journaux de Montréal et d’Ottawa. Les écrits de M. Lesueur introduisent l’esprit de l’enquête critique moderne dans la vie canadienne et défient plusieurs normes sociales. Il reçoit un titre de docteur en droit honorifique du Queen’s College en 1900.
