Below the main inscription, on the square marble base are inscriptions for his daughter Edna who died in Fiji, 28 March 1942; and for his wife Catherine Maude Hedger, who died in 1972, aged 81 years.
From the Sydney Morning Herald, the broadsheet newspaper of NSW is the following extract:
"HEDGER -- April 14, George Albert, beloved husband of Katie, and loving father of Alfred, Edna, George and Sid, who passed away at a private hospital, Ashfield, aged 48. Rest in peace. Funeral today. See notice below."
