Santorini is famous for its blue domed Orthodox Catholic churches. The hillside vista of Saint Spyridon Church with its unique belfry in the foreground and Anastasis Church farther to the right form a picturesque scene that has become associated with the beauty of the island of Santorini. The scene also contains the tricky to navigate jumble of cubic whitewashed buildings characteristic of the island.
On August 8, 2014 the Greek Tourism Bureau used this image on the Santorini stamp as part of a set of three stamps to promote tourism to Greece.
