Long Description:
This is one of the twelve locations in and around the town of Kaesong, located near the DMZ ("de facto" border with South Korea) that were inscribed in the List in 2013.

The Historic The Kaesong Koryo Museum is an usual stop for the tours visiting the nearby DMZ.

In the past the complex hosted the Sungyun Academy, a place of Confucian learning, specially active during the Koryo and Choson Ri dynasties.

The actual complex dates from the 17th Century, although what you see on the location replaced a previous compound razed during a Japanese invasion. It's an interesting museum, with its collections humbly displayed, but providing a great visit.

Besides the exhibit, the visitor should notice the architectural features of the complex, which is inspired in Koryo style, based itself on China’s Tang style.
