WINEDALE SCHOOL
1894-1943

This one-room schoolhouse
was constructed about 1894
approximately 1700 feet northeast
of its present site. The school served
the predominantly German community
both as an elementary school and for
Lutheran Church services until 1943,
when consolidation sent Winedale
students to the Burton School.

The Winedale School was
moved to its present location on
August 14, 1992, and restoration
of the building was completed in
March 1994. The school is a gift
to the University of Texas at Austin
Winedale Historical Center from former
Winedale School students.

Dedicated April 17, 1994.
